    hello all,

I would like any comments on this M42 helmet liner.
The liner is dark in color and no big size stamp found or brass pins (Norweign).
My concern is the 'veneer looking' on the liner. When I inverted the liner to take a look at the seam and noticed the leather looks like there's a 'veneer' of darker colored leather on top then the lighter color on the bottom (dark top light bottom). Not sure if this just the top being treated and the bottom no treatment?

    well thanks for your comments

I really dont know what your saying, if your asking why the underside is in its natural state then that is perfectly normal

Now the other photos have appeared and it might be my laptop but im seeing a red colouration and it doesnt always mean that a Norwegian has to have brass leather retaining pins

I think this liner is Norwegian.

I have not seen a liner with a dark top and a light bottom and that is my question (beyond dirt/blood wear) - In the first picture the seam shows dark on one side (near my finger) and then there is a twist about half way down the seam and you can see the underside is lighter. Kind of looks like the liner side facing soldiers head is dark and the side of the liner facing the helmet is lighter.

Practically all Norwegian reissued Stahlhelme have these dyed reddish liners.

Yes, I agree with Steve and Tom. That colour is far too reddish brown.
