Damage to strap

Article about: How bad does the cut in this strap look to you? Is it ready to break in half, or more cosmetic? And is there a way to stabilize it?

    How bad does the cut in this strap look to you? Is it ready to break in half, or more cosmetic? And is there a way to stabilize it?

    I wouldn't be lifting items, like a helmet I presume, with that strap no.

    Theres not much you can do with it except not place any strain on it

    My advice would be to display the helmet in such a way that the strap is able to hang freely. One of my helmets has a similair split in the strap.

    I was just about to say the same thing. I also have a helmet with a split in the strap.

    The strap has red or dry rot. There is nothing that can be done to correct or cure it. No slaves, oils or leather preparations will change it. As others have stated do not put any further stress on it at all for any reason.
