Decal m42 helmet opinion please!!!

Hi the red is not the flash but seems set into the decal strangely i really dont understand this

If, by playing around with Photoshop, John brandon has increased the contrast of the pictures then slight differences between the composition of the decal and that of its background paint could have been significantly enhanced. Any slightly warm areas on the decal's periphery - bits of rust for example - would become increasingly red. There of course comes a point when reality is distorted and even bent beyond belief with image manipulation - like the current picture of would be British Prime Minister David Cameron on those billboards.

Could the decal have been coloured in with pen (de-nazified) and then cleaned up?

looks like it has it around edges of decal
this is why im beggining to get alarm bells although looks period to my untrained eye

the red isnt as bad as johns pic but is in those places certainly

whatever the red stuff is i wouldnt worry about it,fakers as far as i know arent sticking red heer decals on well not yet anyway,, to me from these pics it looks like a good salty m42, was it reasonably priced ? rgds Dave

i had money for a german helmet burning a hole in my pocket and this came up and i grabbed it as all the others i see are a bit more highly priced and have been offered a lot of dodgy ones also this seemed genuine to me but im no expert on german things i collect raf really but fancied one im a bit hooked now as it started as a couple of relis shells and i have a few shells this is the first complete one.

Wow mate this ones been a bit of a mission , iiv been waiting for some good photos to comment but doesnt look like we are going to get there , i agree with Dave based on the pics , looks ok Cheers Raymond
