Droop Bill Luftschutz Helmet

This is a commercially produced M18 style helmet, commonly referenced as a "Droop Bill" styled shell, with an M26 liner affixed with hollow core rivets. It was originally a medium green color (apparent in the inner dome), later brush painted flat black, and later decaled and reissued to the Luftschutz. It does not have a size stamp, but has the maker stamp in the right apron - DRP" over "ang". It is the same shell as my double decal Black SS helmet. I hope you like it. Jim G.

Strangely enough, I have seen an original SS RZM helmet repainted and reissued to Luftschutz, so you should always inspect these lids.

True enough, many RZM helmets were reissued to the Luftschutz, a buddy of mine has one. When this one arrived yesterday I confess, I was hoping to see traces of SS decals under the paint, but there weren't any. I can always dream that before it was issued to the Luftschutz it was, indeed, a no decal "Blackie", but obviously I will never know. I like the droop bill shells in any case, and actually got this one this week on ebay for next to nothing. Anyway, I am glad you like it. Cheers, Jim G.
