ET66 M40 Heer Coastal Artillery Helmet fromHKB 33/ 977 Rossland, Norway

This helmet comes from the same source as my double decal KM chickenwire helmet. This person digs helmets out of the woodwork, and has been very successful, particularly around the Bergen area. The story behind this one is that he bought it from an old man who lived in a house adjacent to a Heer coastal battery on an island northwest of Bergen (HKB 33/ 977 Rossland on Holsnøy, Artilliegruppe Hjeltefjord).

I think this one may have had whitewash applied over the grey 'bunker' camo. You can see two soldier names inscribed in the leather, which is well preserved. The strap is broken, but that and the rust do not detract too much in my opinion, given the provenance.

This grey is usually only on KM used helmets Kyle. This one is a Heer decal but used at a coastal artillery installation, operated by the Kriegsmarine.
