Got this one in the mail today.
I posted it previously with really poor photos.
I picked it up for $300.00.
It was a DD helmet but unfortunately the tri-color decal was scratched off a long long time ago IMHO.
Now that I have it in hand I took lots of photos and would like opinions.
No dome stamp present but looks like initials of the soldier in that area.
Also looks like vet scratched his name and ASN in the helmet.
    Any thoughts on:
    1. decal
    2. liner original to helmet?
    3. chinstrap original to helmet?

The exterior looks good except for the white paint on the decal , could have been done by kids.
I do fear the leather has been replaced. In a helmet in that condition and with an alu band it loses its oval shape.

    Thanks for your input.
To me whoever touched it up did so very carefully.
It is really hard to paint thin lines between the existing lines like that.
I think whoever did it was an adult. Maybe the vet who brought it back or the German.

Hi, agreed, it has been touched up, that said, I have seen much worse efforts and as you will already know Anton, the tri- colour on this one would have been removed to adhere to the 1940 decal drop regulation. Leon.

Could this have been a former whitewash helmet?
If you blow up the photos you will see what appears to be traces of a white substance.

For $300 it's worth the risk. It's worth that much in parts. Named and FP # I would have bought it for 300 despite the white paint touch up.
