Picked this up a while back and it was advised I get it looked at any thoughts?

Sorry to say that it looks like the insignia was painted over the rust, as it looks like there is white paint in pits in the center swathe of the French tri color and red paint in pits as well. I see that as a red flag. Sorry. Jim G.

Hi, sorry but the gents are right, post war added shield, I am sure I have seen this very same helmet somewhere in the past, where I cannot remember though. Leon.
