My buddy for some reason is on a crazy search for a camo helmet . I'm ok with regular helmets but won't touch a camo unless I saw it come out of the foot locker with photos of the vet holding it in WWII .So what do you guys think

I am not a camo guy but with that said I am not feeling it with this one. Jim G.
Even on my cell phone this one looks like a "freshie".
Not for me.

My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

The liner looks like it was post war tampered with in some way. The tampering reminds me of Norwegian red dye liners and how people scrub them so that they have the original German finish. Furthermore the paint looks too new, though it could be the pictures causing that. While I'm no expert in camo helmets any potential red flags like that would make me walk away. People fake these all the time so you have to look very carefully at every part of the helmet to make sure its good.

Even if I had "Photos of the vet holding it in WW2" I would have to pass.

One needs to at least learn to feel comfortable with the the basic factory helmets if you are going hunting for camo’s. So many fakes out there.
If you do not want to spend the time you best buy one from a member here. Yes it will cost more than a rare lucky find but you will have quality.

Ha! Pretty much sums it up I think. There are quite a few camo's to pick from but they are difficult to authenticate (and expensive).
I think this one falls in the bottom 5% as a definite fake.
I would advise your friend to keep searching, remain patient and perhaps sign up to WRF to discuss any potential purchases.

And now for a completely novice opinion (drum roll)....no wear at all to the top of the lid, edges, or pins of the shell as is typical. Almost as though the camo was rendered but then put in a box and sat in a cupboard. No rust where the original paint is exposed throught the camo. The patina of the interior of the shelll does look more like what you'd expect of a 70 year old helmet. As for the liner.. If it's intended to be a KIA the dye that was used should have been darker....
