Default German helmet liner- real or reproduction?

I recently purchases a original restored M42, NS66 helmet for reenacting. And noticed the liner smells old similar to some original leather items I have owned but am not certain if it's authentic or a really good reproduction. What tipped me off that this could possibly be a original is the grey felt lining on the inside of the metal band. I would greatly appreciate the help!

Pictures look pretty convincing, but I've never seen an ink stamp like that on the back side. Also looks very tight in the metal band. Inner band looks pretty rusty too. Something doesn't add up. Maybe new leather in an original outer band. How about a close up picture of the rear seam both inside and out and the springs between the bands?

    Cheers,
    Terry

Sure! I gotta take it back out of the helmet to get pics but I will get them. I'd like to know if it's real or not so I don't use it for reenacting. I'd rather sell it and purchase a quality reproduction.
