Hello, all! Here is another helmet that belonged to my buddy. Obviously, it has been painted a thousand times and the liner is new but I wonder about the shell itself. Comments? Lay them on me, bitte!
Also: for some reason, warrelics.com will NOT allow me to post large photos for that past two days. It also will not let me preview my madness. Hmmm. Hope this works as I have two other shells to ask about.

Pics are there, just click on the link you have provided. I have edited you post to show them directly not as linked attatchments.

The shell is real and is a WW1 M16.

    Cheers, Ade.

Holy Crom-it's a WWI helmet shell? That is most interesting! Any ideas on how to remove the paint?

Possibly a size 64, going by the air vents....as Ade said WW1 M16....

You could try a commercial paint stripper, but go carefully, who knows the original paint may be underneath!!!

And one more. I believe it is a denazified 1934 police helmet. Not sure, though.

The next lid in post 14 is again WW1, but this time the later version of the M16 fitted with a liner band to which the chinstrap was fitted. M1917 / M1918. Note the lack of the chinstrap fitting lugs on the inside and of course the lack of the rivet for said item on the outside.

    Cheers, Ade.

Looks as though the original finish is still present in the dome!
