Default German helmet from US flea market. Fake?

A friend bought this helmet on a flea market in Florida. According to the seller it's a vet bring back. He payed 300 USD which worries me because it seems like a too good price. Is it faked or tempered with?

    Best regards

Would need better closer pictures of the decal and of the liner to give a better opinion.

Looks to me to be an honest looking m40, no expert on decals though. I reckon cheap because of the battle damage!...
It's a wasted trip baby. Nobody said nothing about locking horns with no Tigers.
