you guys are good!!! many thanks for all your replys, had no idea up till now this was a genuine piece,
was it common for the helmets to have the liners replaced? and if so what would be the reason, unfinished batch of lids perhaps?

The liners were replaced and reconditioned plus dyed this deep red brown shade when the Norwegian Army rebuilt these helmets. All of the helmets were left in the country after the German Army was repatriated home in 1945/46.

Chinstraps were often replaced with new production brown leather ones made in Norway.

The helmets were sometimes stripped of all paint or just overpainted. They then had new decals added for either the Norge Army or Air Force.

    Cheers, Ade.
