Post German M42 with repro liner.

    Hi Guys,

Here i have another M42 to show you all, and ask for your comments or opinions.

This one has ( hopefully shown in the pic's) hkp 64 and 3554 in the rim, it has a apple green type finish, but showing through this paint is a bluey/grey colour. I have fitted a repro liner ( which i have tried to age to compliment the shell)

I don't normally tend to agree with fitting repro items to helmets, but it was a winter project, and kept me out of the way from the wife!!
It does display better with a liner never the less.
    Enjoy

    Cheers

Hi Gaz, the green paint is certainly not original to the shell. The colour is wrong.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Hi Ade,

Thanks for comment , and Yeah i did'nt think the colour was right, i am debating whether to strip it back to metal, but i don't Know if i can be bothered and/or whether i'll just make matters worse. I was hoping to find a trace of a decal , but none to be found. When i first got it ,it was painted with Auto paint sort of a glossy black/blue.

After rubbing it down with fine grade wet n dry, for hours n hours, i got it down to this finish, but underneath this greeny colour, its like grey primer!!
Perhaps the winter project will continue.
    Cheers

It would not hurt to strip this one right back.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Hi Ade,

Yeah i think you might be right , could you suggest any idea what " Authentic looking paint " to use ,and would be ok on this one, it's a shame really as it has no real rust problems, just a dodgy paint job!

    Cheers
    Gaz.

    Hi Ty,

Thanks and yeah i think i will remove the funky acid trip paint scheme. I suppose it's only the shell that's original, so i got nothing
to loose really. I got nothing else to do in this miserable brit weather.Go on mate cheer me up and tell me it's sun ,and more sun where you are!!
    Cheers and Take it easy.
