German or Modern fake?

Hi, im new to this forum so firstly "Hello"

and thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Ive allways wanted a German Helmet from the WWII era, but having browsed the forums, im now in doubt as to wether the helmet is genuine.

i purchased this particular helmet for 25 quid in a flea market some years ago.. i realize the insignias are not real as they are the transfers that can be purchased from just about anywhere.

but what has me realy doubting its age, is the weight, and the fact that the helmet is riveted all the way round? There is also a piece on the front which looks like it may retain something else also.

anyway if someone could explain wether this is german or a modern copy i would realy appreciate it.

Your best bet is to go to a WWII renactment show where you can see the stuff in person. a couple notes for you.

1. If you buy in person check the insignia on the sides. if it is a fake it will have a decal that is thin, usually shiny, and flake off easily. Also, you can easily tell if it is a decal by seeing the surface around it. if it is fairly smooth with slight bumps on it and the decal shows the same, it a good sign it could be real. If not it's a fake.

2. Check to see how faded everything is. something 60 yrs old WILL fade, so check for that.

3. Check to see signs of heavy wear and tear on the inner lining, this gives you an idea of age.
