    I think it was done later as it looks like ball point pen. I don't know when
    the ball pen came into widespread use though.........

    I agree with you 100%. I can't make sense of it and am not even sure what the words are ("K EAGL-?" "KEAGLE"? "Ugser"? "J Loser"?), but they sure don't look German to me.
