i have really enjoyed this thread. very interesting to see how many different ways the helmets were camo'd. untill i saw this thread i had not seen US para-silk used as a german helmet cover. it really helped explain the one i have. i'll have to dig up some other period pics i have on disk. but this one i have on hand, i hope you will find as curious as i do. any one ever see a big white swaz painted on the front of a german helmet ? not exactly camo, but interesting. sorry the picture is not bigger, but the zoom level for your screen will help. note all the helmets in the pic have a white swaz painted on the front, kind of crude too. who would not think it was done post war by a vet?

These men are members of the Marinebrigade Ehrhardt, photographed in Berlin, March 1920.

Swastikas in different styles, orientations (and degrees of neatness) were used by several of the post-WW1-era Freikorps; their use of the Swastika actually pre-dated the Nazis' adoption of the symbol.
