Re: Heer M42, ET62, #1525
If I understand what your asking, the Stamp at the tip of the chinstrap? If so it is a maker mark
-
Re: Heer M42, ET62, #1525
Normally yes, but that's the tip of the short portion, which contains the buckle. Not the long part that contains the holes.

Re: Heer M42, ET62, #1525
Personally I have never seen a mark on the short part so I don't know I'll look into it, if i find out something I will tell.

Looks like a good honest lid, I have seen this before somewhere.

Re: Heer M42, ET62, #1525
Nice lid. I like the late war pigskin liner.

A very nice M42 Helmstone! I can't help you with the stamp marking, very un-usual! That decal was taken off very cleanly,if only all servicemen thought of us future collectors as considerately!!!LOL Leon.

I agree mate, nice pot. The marking on the strap is weird isn't it, I'm thinking unit marking too maybe. I see II or something at the end there.

Re: Heer M42, ET62, #1525
Very nice. I will be checking the short ends of my straps from now on.

Re: Heer M42, ET62, #1525
This is the first time I have ever seen any type of marking on the buckle part. It's very tight due to the stud so these are pretty much the best pics I can get. Too bad there is no feldpost number.
@ Doug: this one came from a collection out of Hagerstown MD. And a VFW or American legion before that, according to the previous owner.
