Article about: No No NO! Please don't oil any helmet! I have merged your two threads about this helmet together into one. Cheers, Ade.

I wouldn't oil it at all, I have heard that some people do this, but don't know why to be honest.
It may even work it's way beneath the decal and make it flake more.
From what I can see, it does not appear to be readily flaking off, and careful storage will keep it safe.

I'd say no oil -- ever. This would only decrease its value as a collectable and it'd be even shinier than before --- not a desirable look. Plus, oil is said to actually promote rust in these helmets over time. I think you should just leave it as is... I'd put it in a dust free cabinet/display case or something similar and be done with it. Except for the issues mentioned it's a neat helmet as is

It's not a car and this ain't Jiffy Lube, no need to change the oil and filter.

Thanks for the good comments and tips guys!
An original chinstrap maybe the only last that will be changed
    Agree?

Do you suspect the current one is fake ? Better pics of the buckle and maker mark are in order to assess it.
    And don't oil it ! ;-)
