Helmet batch numbers

Hi I have an M40 with a textured over paint, a decal is under paint as you can see the shape, going by batch number is it possible to work what service the helmet was issued to. Helmet is E.T 66 batch is 4991

There is no absolute correlation between lot number and branch of service. Photos may help though.

Someone needs to pin the statement,

Lot numbers have nothing to do with service branch.

Also a "batch" is what you call it when mom bakes cookies.

You need to post photos up of both sides of the helmet, not just the left side.

I only ask ,as i have heard that people have compiled lists relating to batch numbers and service issue. Sorry for any annoyance for bringing up the subject.

There is a book out there (just updated in Aug 7th edition) by Brian Ice that has a fairly comprehensive list. It's only $25.

I plan on getting it myself in the next few weeks.
