Hi Guys
What do you think about this helmet ? It is sold as an original - and I am still not able to make the difference between copies and originals
The color of the inside also confuses me.

I will say the last layer of paint(vomit green) is very postwar. It's a little more difficult to tell about the other two layers. The pics are not that great. However it looks to be a painted relic helmet. I don't like the "wear' marks. Just my opinion.

Yes, in good condition outside, not inside.
I agree with Lars...a repainted M40 shell.
cheers, Glenn
thank you Guys That was quick - it is very much appreciated
Is it normal that the helmet has a tan color on the inside??
Definitely a post war job, and a poor one at that
An original m40 shell but looks to have been repainted a few times.
"sold as original" = seller is being deceitful... and it is not confusing. The nearly new looking "vomit green" (as someone aptly put it) gaudily applied spray paint is obviously not period, or original, and neither is the inside color. Probably a good candidate some someone's re-enactnment helmet with full repaint, decals, etc.
If you study this much, and glean from the great info in the stickies, threads, countless pics and info on the net, there is no excuse for "still not able to make the difference between copies and originals ", especially on a piece this bad...
Unless you pointed out those Red flags I would never had seen them!
As the others have said its a postwar repainted lid. Paint over rust never ends well
