They appear to be an original set, albeit rather rusty!

+1. VERY rusty. Unless you have a ground dug helmet, I would wait for a better set. There are plenty available out there

THX for your reply. Someone told me, that these are aged repro pins, so I thought better ask here.

Yes, they would be for a relic (actually more like a semi-relic, because it's in fairly good shape) M40 Q62 winter camo helmet, which has the same yellowed paint as these pins. Of course, I only would use original pins, hence I asked here, because a friend of mine told me otherwise.

Authentic pins are pre painted for factory instalment. Why are these yellow painted and appear to be unbent.
    I am suspicious.

Would appear to be zinc coated steel, therefore mid/late wartime examples. The repro ones tend to look rather flimsy in comparison.

    A fair point.

I agree with Frank. These look to be purposely and artificially aged to me. I have to admit though, split rivets and slotted washers are two of the few helmet parts that can be and are reproduced almost perfectly.

    Cheers,
    Terry

I agree Terry. If aged well it will be tough to see.
