Helmet mold/repair stand???

Article about: Stumbled upon this on Ebay. The seller referenced it as maybe a German helmet repair block or mold. I've never seen anything like it. Any thoughts?

    Gday Dave,
To true mate,Low altitude fire bombing was the most effective method the USAAF devised to destroy Japans paper and wood cities.
Most people don't realise that over 100,000 Japanese died in one night during the fire bombing of Toyko (Operation Meetingplace 9-10 march 1945).
More than Hiroshima (est 45-80,000) and Nagasaki (est 40-75000).
Last place on earth you would want to wear a paper hat.
    Have a good one Dave.

Bugger you beat me to it, it's kinda obvious now when you look at the shape of this and the shape of a vulcanfibre helmet....

Being an Aussie we know your crazy.
Just not crazy about the helmet mold.
The Aussies I met in Vietnam were almost as crazy as me. They would trade me ears for scalps. Can't out drink them though. I tried. No luck.
