Oh, I believe some have a lot number listing? ... does the 2790 lot for HKP
mean anything on any list .... issued to a flak batterie for example?

The lot number will not tell you a unit at all. The lot number may help with verification of a lid, as in if someone else has the same number as your lid and they are both lufty then its a good chance to be the real deal. To get a unit the original owner would have had to of painted a feldpost number onto the lid.

Doesn't leave any doubt Dan , a crisp picture like that tells a tale. The fuzzy first close-up picture wasn't doing the helmet any favors.

All I can tell you about that lot number is that is sits in between 2 other SD luft batches. The numbers don't really work to try and find out which unit used them, their usefulness stops at the factory gates more or less. I'm sure they made perfect sense to some German with an affinity for lists.

Best to make your own thread about it mate, many original decals go yellow with age so it's probably not a problem (if it's a real one).
