HKP66 M43 Luftwaffe helmet - amazing condition!

Hi all,
My first Luftwaffe lid that wasn't rusted away!

It has crossed the globe to get here ....USA to England to Australia .....( no eagle has landed puns please )

I'll let the pictures tell the story. Now to find a good chinstrap - any suggested sellers?
Oh, maker and size is HKP66 lot number is 2790

It is an M42 by the way, there is no such thing as an M43.

Here is a closer one - a big file tho'
It's quite soft to touch, and has that quality that repos don't have.
I know the rivets are a bit loose but the don't seem to have been removed & replaced - the tabs are cleanly bent over the washers.

M42 is correct, sometimes I get mixed up with field caps & uniforms!!!!!!!!!!!! d'oh!!

I hate to say it but I am concerned that the liner is a reproduction.

Is there stitching running down the finger where the ends of the liner meet? I can't tell from the photos. It looks like there isn't?

There is stitching at that point - its just that the two sections butt up and the stitching is on the inside ( if I am explaining myself ) so not exposed.
It did come from a reputable source - germanwarhelmet.com - where it is #305 on sold page 1.

I'm pretty comfortable with it - I know pictures cant give a "feel" but it does look to good to be true at first glance.

That was my only concern. It looks like a really nice helmet, congrats!

I am still on the hunt for my first Luftwaffe helmet, but I am having trouble finding an NS that I can afford!

I'm thinking the same as Mo, the liner looks like its has been "brushed" to remove the treated tanning side, and i would think that the loose pins are a result of a replacement

Would it hurt too much to say it only cost $480 Australian including shipping??
Stop me from smiling - it's starting to hurt!
