Liner help needed

Hi,
Any comments on the originality of this liner and band?
It came in a size 68 m42 shell (probable Czech civil - I'll post it later) with black-ish pins and shiny washers.
The liner is very dark and heavily oiled (smells like vegetable oil?).
It appears to have been repaired with a tar type substance.
The band is marked size 60 and is rusty in parts.

I would think that some type of preservative has been added to stop any further decay, but i notice that all the leather washers from the rear of the liner are missing or were never placed

Thanks, the oil/preservative is sticky and all over the liner/band so I assume it was put on in recent years. There are no leather washers on the rear of the liner.

So the band appears original but the liner could be either original but treated or not original (Czech civic reissue)? Any thoughts?
I'm considering replacing the leather with a repro liner if it isn't original. Thanks

For reference - the m42 helmet the liner came from - no maker mark but lot no. 358. Dimensions are larger than my ET66 so I assume this is size 68.
