Luft decals when?

I have no pics of this one but was shown over the week end by its new owner an M42 shelled helmet with Luft decal. Is this likely, the decal also looked smaller than the ones i have seen posted here, didn't look like a water slide though.

on M42 , different makers ,different features but all almost have the same size . if it's smaller , he should take care

I thought by 1942, M42, the practice of decals being applied to helmets was discontinued, hence my concern.

It was 1943 before decals dissappeared from the production line, so don't be too concerned about finding an M42 with a decal.
