Thanks for the info. Quist only made M40's right up to the end yes?
I think this one is a reject (difficult to photograph) for the reason pictured here and previously- the lip.
I don't think the bead has been confirmed as my other reference "German Helmets 1933-1945 vol II by T.V. Goodapple & W.R. Maertz state this (reject). But they are more inclined to the recognition purpose.
+ the helmet feels to be the same weight as a normal combat shell
"+ the helmet feels to be the same weight as a normal combat shell" -- I'm wrong on that.
Just did a weight comparison with a comparable sized combat shell ET64 (not totally accurate considering liner weight differences and my device) but 152gms is considerable. But I guess it also relates to the steel plate lot. any way an extra 2 ct

Rene, for a accurate weight, you will have to remove both liners and strip back the paint.....looking forward to the results!!!!!

I also noticed the weight difference on my new m40 Q68 LS, is about 25-30% difference. Mine also has some script writing under the dome. Apparently is all original.Sorry if anyone has seen this in another thread I posted recently.

No problem,Rene! This is my first beaded helmet and I like it a lot.It was advertised as a refurb, repaint, relined and replaced chinstrap! I got it at a decent price ,needless to say. Thanks again, fellas.
