    Perhaps i should explain a little. Any soldier in the field will tell you that camo is used to break up the shape, and blend in the surroundings. The average tom couldn't care less about nice straight pattens gawdy colours or whether it looks right. His/her own objective is consealment, not to be seen. This helmet that started the discussion does not fit any of that criteria, in fact it serves the opposite

    It never ceases to amuse me when in the "films" the wary soldiers put thick green and brown can cream all over their faces to conseal themselves. Any soldier will tell you that doing it that way you end up like one of the black and white minstrals, where your eyes stand out as white balls, and the lips fair no better. Just a smudge on the face highlights conseals and stops reflection

    so whenever looking at camo helmets, remember what they were used for, consealment, not pretty pattens
