Luftwaffe ET SD M35 helmet Decal opinion

Hi chaps and thanks for your replies!! I bought this helmet a long time ago from a recognized dealer. At that point I hadn't studied these decals and just assumed it was original! I stuck it in a box and stored it away. I have since read books and studied decals and just last night, I had a quick look at this helmet. I was a bit concerned that this particular decal was missing a "well known dot" on one of the wings. Although the absence of this dot concerned me, I know that a small number of ET decals were produced without this dot. So, just thought I would run it past you guys. (it's a single decal by the way)

How can you tell?
The photo is far from being clear, i'd be interested in learning how to spot a fake from such a bad photo.

the decal looks like an original but like said as above has been defaced to hide some features, almost like it has been smugded to hide the faults
