    Hey.

I just bought this M16, and was wondering if those dark areas peeking under the paint, are actually the original German paint? The shell is depot repaired after the war by Finnish army, including new paint in the 50's.

Is there any clean way to remove the repaint, without actually ruining the helmet (I also like it the way it is right now) and to get to the original paint?

I would leave it just the way it is. Jim G.

I would agree with Jim, it's a nice Finnish reissue. Any tempering will reduce monetary and historical value.

No way would I even be tempted to mess with this, I think it looks great as is

I must say that I agree. Just a play of thought

I also like it how it is, it looks honest, rather than messed with if you change it.
