I have a Post War BGS helmet that I am converting to an as close as possible authentic M40 . Can somebody on here tell me what size the vent holes and the split pin holes are on an original helmet?? Thanks... Mike

You might want to leave that BGS helmet alone it's very collectible it's self. may as well buy a chinese copy
I'm not 100% sure that's what I have. It is made like a M40 but I think the vent holes are a little small. It is absolutely unmarked and has a leather liner like a WWII helmet with a plastic outer ring and vent holes in the front. Someone has put a very nice single decal, Normandy camo paint job, and marked repro chinstrap that now looks old on it. I jut want to open the vent holes up to original size, and change the liner and I think this will require opening up the holes for them too.... Mike

I do know that it is a size 66 shell from measuring it with a size 58 liner.
May be a Chinese copy but the liner
Makes me think it's German.
Can anybody help me out or give me an opinion on what this thing is??
