Hi Guys, I just love named lids, I have had this one for about a year now..It was my 3rd helmet bought. Here is what I think would be called a splinter camo named to a LT. Herbert Wenzel, what I know as of 15 Nov 44 he was with 5th Company, Field replacement battalion, 708th Volksgrenadier Division. If any historians can help add to Herbert's history that would be great. Stamped NS66 / 5926 Hope all like pics.

Edited: Sorry for the second pic..that should not be in this thread.

    Could be KIA helmet.
    Is the chin strap cut?
Several guys with his name are on the War Graves site killed in action in January 1945.

Wow..Thanks for the help guys. There are some numbers after his name, I dont know if this will help. It looks to be 14498 c , not sure about the C.
Here are some pics of the strap. The one end looks like it was cut, but cant be sure, the other end looks like it broke off.
Is it possible to post a link to that war graves page?

    My guess is he survived.
No one with his name was KIA in the 708 V.G.D. area of operations.
    Hard to be certain.

The number 14498 is a Feldpost number and is for:

    (Mobilmachung-1.1.1940) Stab Bau-Bataillon 210,

    (1.2.1941-11.7.1941) Stab Brücken-Bau-Bataillon .210,

    (1.8.1943-23.3.1944) 23.9.1943 Stab Pionier-Brücken-Bataillon 210,

    (7.11.1944-Kriegsende) 5.3.1945 gestrichen

    Cheers, Ade.
