M35 or M40

Hi guys,

Im looking into buying this lid, seller claims its a M35 but to me it looks like a M40, am I right here?

Opinions on originality, decal etc. are welcome as always. Sorry for the poor photos.

Its an M40 but the photos seem to indicate its fake.
The decal looks a repo and the paint and liner look redone they dont have the patina you would like to see on an original.
Leave this and find a better one.

The surface of the helmet appear pitted, Dan do you reckon the shell was ground dug?

Sorry, was at home earlier & just got to work now.
Being pitted could indicate dug but if the pitting is even and not on the inside I would say that its just air corrosion over the years. But that just means the shell is original, I doubt anything else is.
The liner particularly looks chemically aged reproduction ( poorly fitting, odd colour, no size stamp )
