Why on earth would you take it apart ! ? - Too late now.

'NS' is Vereinigte Deutshe Nickelwerke, Schwerte.
Helmet size 66, with a 59 cm liner, which was
    made in 1940.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

Someone here will let you know about the lot number.
I bought one of these in the 70's for $25, stripped it
down, painted it black and added SS decals.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

I was going to strip it to see if their was anything underneath it...but was told that the Norwegians sandblasted all paint and decals off before replaying and putting their own decal on.

Don't strip it! I've been looking for one in this condition for awhile now and would hate to see a genuine example ruined.

That is no good reason to take it apart, people here have dirty SS and awesome camos that are dirty and even have blood rotted liners and they dont take them apart for taking pics or for any reason.

Anyway; there is a D223 listed in the GHW lot number database that is a 66 size DD lufty.
