A superb helmet, impossible to do better. One has to wonder what Else the vet squirreled away from his Army days! Nice find!

Thanks everyone for the kind words!
If the family turns up anything more ( and I can secure it ) I will certainly show it here - but at the moment its "softly softly catchee monkey"

I would also like to thank the folk on this forum who have given me the tools to discern a good lid from a bad. Some "locking of horns" has occurred from time to time - which is part of the learning process - but this forum truly is an INVALUABLE resource for the collector in this most expensive of hobbies and I thank you all for your camaraderie !

    Cheers, Dan

I'm sure it was but what I was getting at is, was it a Craigslist/ebay find or some random classified? (so I know where to look in future)

No, it was not from the obvious places. What I will say is that a lot of communities have online noticeboards and so do local papers where people can advertise stuff. The internet lets us to go to the "for sale" section of many local newspapers these days - even across the world - so don't limit your searches to the big auction sites.

    Happy hunting!
