That's not a bad price to pay for a restoration - but then again,
I know a guy who recently paid $800 for an SS repro !

    ( Below is my $250 SS repro - I cannot afford a real one ! )
So .......you bought this from Easternwarfront Steve????
I had seen it in the classifieds?

Yes, Dan - Thank you for noticing.

I'd have bought his other SS one as well, but the fake decal is offset/canted/tilted.
I simply cannot afford a genuine SS helmet - I'd have to save for about 10 years !
At the very least, I have an original shell.........!
    Regards,

    Steve.

I watched it long and hard a while back as well Steve ( I too cannot afford a real one ) but decided to stick to relics ........

No shame in a repro, Rene your mate didn't do too bad IMO.

Same here Steve , I bought this one for $275 from WAF a while back.
It certainly isn't the worst I've seen, but still an obvious fake/repro lid (original shell), but for the price, it's as good as I could want.
And when it comes to this particular gap, well there will always be one there I guess, if I want an original that is.
Same goes for an Fallschirmjager lid sadly.

    Brad.
