    Default M40 ET62 Heer BLACKY

    Hello everybody,

This is my first topic in this nice forum though a lot of you guys might know me from GHW and WAF. But first a short introduction of myself. My name is Patrick but I am called Garry from ever since. I am 29 years old and served in the German military for quite a while. Now, I am studying English and history and I started to collect german headgear of the WWII. I figured that helmets are very special and they all have a unique charisma. My main helmet interest is in Luftwaffe, camo and field repainted/ reissued helmet of all german branches. I also got now into the allied world of helmet collecting .
I am happy to be a part of this community since I am very eager to learn and participate with some threads about my collection.

I start with my oldest helmet in my collection which just came in from Austria. So the helmet returned to its origins , one could say.
It is a nice M40 ET62 with a nice field applied dark greyish colour. There seems to be the Heer decal under the paint but it is really hard to make out since the paint is applied thick by brush. Those brush strokes can be seen on the entire helmet! Loving it!

The helmet liner is stamped with 1940. I can not read the manufacturer marking, since there is too much dirt and dust inside the helmet.
The leather is very soft and in good condition. Only a little torn on the front part. I really like it when history can be seen on a helmet .

There is a very nice name written over the Lotnumber. The wearer was called "Mäde" a typical name over here in Germany.

    Lotnumber is 132.

Chinstrap is marked with a RBN number and also in very good condition and soft.

Those field applied greyish dark colors are refered to FLAK or SMOKE units. Definetly makes sense IMO.

Hope you'll like the helmet and enjoy the pics!

All the best from Germany guys!
