M40 for evaluation please.

I've seen this M40, and all looks original to me. Does that look like the remains of a decal?

Cold well be the remains of a decal, or is the decal peeking through some pint, looks like there is one there but been painted over

What is the factory stamp? I have never seen an 'E' lot number prefix. It all looks good so far but I think that the liner may have been replaced.

No, for that to be true the number afterwards would have to be an even number between 60 and 70, thus indicating the size.

I'm sure some more experienced collectors have seen the 'E' prefix before. I just never have.

NS had an E prefix lot number, Is it an NS helmet? according to the reference i have, NS did a run of E prefix lot numbers in early 1940, that would explain the reinforced liner band

Definitely M35, in which case the liner might be original to the lid
