Article about: Here's a nice used camo I picked up at a fair in Holland a couple of week ago. I saw it , wanted it , walked around and could not leave without it. It's an NS62 - D178 with a yes ! 1939 date

    Here's a nice used camo I picked up at a fair in Holland a couple of weeks ago.
    I saw it , wanted it , walked around and could not leave without it.

    It's an NS62 - D178 with a yes ! 1939 dated alu liner.

    Phew uploading photos one by is a real pain I must say.

    When one sees an example such as this..a "one looker", you just can't go home without it. This type patina/paint cannot be faked.

    Lovely wear and aging - the colour is nice too. Not surprised you had to have it, I would too.

    I particularly like the paint run on the front of the helmet. It appears that it was painted while upside-down. Since there is no disturbance to the top of the dome paint, it probably was suspended; maybe by the chinstrap.

    It's neat when small details can tell us something about what was going on the day a helmet was painted, or what may have been involved in the procedure.
