M40 SD Heer - opinions please.
I am thinking about buying this helmet.
...what do you guys think of it?
The helmet has clearly seen some action - the crack on top.
I particular like the condition of the liner/chinstrap and the decal.
Do you think the crack spoils the helmet?

I love it! The crack adds some interesting history to it,however it got there. For me a worn and a little damaged item is so much more "real" than a minty box fresh one, although those items is also very nice
A nice-looking and original helmet! and I agree with Inka, the crack does indeed add to the story. A very worthy addition to a collection.
Books published to date... 'Belfast Diaries: A Gunner In Northern Ireland'... 'A Tough Nut To Crack - Andersonstown'... 'An Accrington Pal: The Diaries of Pte Jack Smallshaw, September 1914 To March 1919'.
I like the look of this one, definitely seen some action and the crack adds some character to it!
I would say go for it, good lid. Marty

I am sure the decal is good but you should post a decal closeup to be 100% sure. Dealers can make mistakes.
Yes Christmas presents to oneself are a must in this hobby...
PS I also love the concussion crack in the dome. I have a camo SD SS M40 ET with a similar concussion crack and I love it!
Hi, I feel that this one is a fine example of a HEER M40 that has seen a bit of action. I would guess the owners ears were "ringing" for weeks from the concussion hit. Leon.

The dealer(Weitze) has not made a real closeup of the decal, but you should be able to zoom on the first picture.
...I made a zoom closeup of the decal - picture 119(can it be used?)
