Thank you. My Uncle told me that when he was in combat in France he had a picture of his wife and son tucked into his liner. He would get very emotional when he spoke about his 25th birthday in Normandy, 8/3/44. He was in the 2nd ID. They were on the attack and he was pinned down under an intense barrage. He told me that he pulled the picture out so that he could be with his family when the shell that killed him hit. He survived the War, and we just lost him 2 Christmas's ago. When I found this picture all I could think about was what those poor sob's, on both sides on the line, endured, and the cost to all of war. Jim G.
A nice personal piece of history Jim !!

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

I have a helmet from the same lot. The linen has been change for other one and has no decals, it was painted. It came to me as a birthday gift in 1978, purchased from a used military equipment shop in Mexico city my dad told me from the same guy, it came with an iron cross and a German medal, a swastica with the ring of leaves and a pin of German youth. I thougth I was never going to see this since the lots were of 5000 helmets but here it is.
Regards from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, México.
