In memory of my father who was in K-Einsatz, combat engagement, with the RAD in the Alps in 1945, of my grandfather who was with the IR 87 during campaign in France in 1940 and of my grand-uncle who served in the Gardegrenadierregiment Nr. 3 "Königin Elisabeth" and who was killed in action at Craonne, Chemin des Dames in France in 1917
The seller might very well have dropped his freshly created Frankenstein relic on the ground before taking those photos... but, other than that? Sexed up relic is all I've got to say... liner and chinstrap has rotted away, to me, obviously in the ground --- now, compare to the cloth and chicken wire...
It is a put together job.

Hello
Not for me sorry I had a m40 like this and sold it as unknown apart from its shell last year. I wanted to study it and the liner, came from Russian seller (story was Festung Demyansk relic?).
Wire attacks the cloth so does its age corrosion residue, for a helmet as corroded as this the cloth should at least have started to rot,, frankly the composite of parts don't match IMO sorry.

Eric
Dear all,
Thank you very much for your advices. Indeed a helmet cover is no plastic bag. When I posted here I also contacted the seller. So he made some additional remarks which are unfortunately not found at his advertisement of the helmet. However in his answer he doesn't claim that the cover is original and belongs to the helmet, it had been fixed at the helmet when he got it.
With best wishes
