I thinking of buying this as a display helmet. I generally collect US m-1s but thought I would branch out a little.
He is asking $145. Has damage on top and liner is shot. The band is still there.

It not a terrible price really, it's a bit worn but most of the paint is there, decal same. Shame about the pickaxe. I was interested in this one so I'd have one I wouldn't mind people handling and being a bit rough with, but shipping to the UK made it a bit pricey for what it is for me.
It seems in pretty good condition other than the liner and dents.
Is it possible to get a repro liner for it?
Hi,
Nice lufty 42, if i had it i would pop back those two pieces on the top and invest in a good liner and strap for it, the paint decal and the rest of it is ok for the period. Best of luck.
Dave.
It's a good size, too. I've beens searching for a 68 for a while. I'd buy this if I were you...
I meant to mention it was an M42 and not M40, you got in first Pz3
You can get a repro liner but I wouldn't, leave it as original as you can if you get it, it'll look good on a shelf. If you come to resell it with a repro liner and messed with splitpins (maybe broken pins) you'll struggle.
Would that be blood staining on the remains of the liner?
Nice helmet I would jump at it for that price. Cheaper than many crumbling relics
That's not a bad price for that condition. I usually don't go for repro liners so I'd stick with it being the way it is. It has a nice appeal that's somewhere between a relic and a better conditioned helmet.
I'd buy it at that price.
I agree with helmetone, I would leave it the way it is.
