    Default M42 Beaded Luftshutz question

    Hello,
I have attached some photos of my beaded M42 Luftshutz.
I pick this up about once a year to move it ( outside of dusting of course)
It seemed so much thicker and more substantial then other helmets I have handled lately ( I don't have a great deal of them on hand)
Is there a reference available for helmet weights?
It weighs 2 pounds 13 ounces.
I weighed my m35 which has its liner and the weights are pretty close.
I am probably just tricking myself on this one.M42 Beaded Luftshutz questionM42 Beaded Luftshutz questionM42 Beaded Luftshutz questionM42 Beaded Luftshutz questionM42 Beaded Luftshutz questionM42 Beaded Luftshutz questionM42 Beaded Luftshutz question
Thanks in advance for your help on this.

Hi, it actually is an M40. Is it a Q shell? Quist helmets tend to be heavier than other manufacturers' helmets in my experience. Yours is a very representative piece. I love the toning of the LS wing. Best regards, Jim G.

I tried to do just that about 3 years ago.....

A helmet database and a request for help

... but like that lead balloon, it never flew ....

Yes it is a Quist , the lotnumber with R prefix is unique for Q.

A database which just adds weights/metal thickness seems irrelevant to me , we can clearly visually establish a helmet is good or bad.
And I can tell you after having made a database with almost 2100 helmets with description that it takes a lot of time and effort (years)
+ who controls and checks the validity of the data if you let anybody do the input ?
Letting different people with different skills adding to the data pool will only make it flawed.

A good Quist Luftschutz shell, no issues that I can see, Leon.

I may collect the past but I don't live there. ......... based on adverse opinions I moved on.

Dan your brain will be pleased , believe me you didn't want to go there :-)
On the other hand instead of making a huge database a sample of every model per maker would have merrit.
That would be a process you can control.
