M42 camo?

Article about: Hello people. what do you think about this helmet? Green paint is pre-war But under the paint looks like a sand paint ( someone try to take off the green colour)

    Looks like it had a net at one time. The remnants of the liner also seem to me to show some blood rot damage. I suspect he didn't survive the War. Jim G.

    correct me if im mistaken, but doesnt m42 + anything pre-war = fake helmet?

    how does a pre-war paint job end up on a helmet that wasnt made before 1942 lol

    that green looks like "railing green" to me, not pre-war. Someone tried to remove the repaint job and found some colour under, but from the pics it's hard to tell which colour it is.

    What does blood-rot mean? never heard of something like that, nice helmet though

    In combat helmets, where blood has soaked into the leather the leather darkens appreciably and becomes brittle. In my opinion, it usually means the poor guy was a KIA. In this piece it looks as if several of the tips of the fingers are missing and the edges of the broken leather look very dark, and are probably as hard as a rock. I suspect that this is the result of the liner having been soaked in blood. Jim G.
