My M42 SD Heer helmet, it was repainted after the war, the camouflage is thick, it feels a bit like sandpaper, i think they mixed the paint with sand.
A great deal of camouflage paint was already missing when it was painted over, the new paint came off real easy not lead based paint, like beneath.
But i cant tell the camouflage, so if someone knows normandy? sudfront? Thanks for the help!

Hi, it is really hard to tell if this cammo is period due to the way that the over paint and subsequent removal has altered the look and texture. That said I think it may stand a chance of being a Mediterranean type cammo but real good natural light close ups of the paint would be needed and even then, you may only be able to tell for sure from an in hand inspection. ( by the way, the helmet looks much better now either way!) Leon.
