M42 DD Combat Police Helmet - EF64 Lot # 499

Today's arrival, a classic EF Combat Police helmet. Not in mint condition, but the price was right. The long end of the strap was cut at the very first hole, and is very thin, but according to the guys on GHW that know a lot more than I, it is legit. I see nothing wrong with the overall construction of the strap, so I agree. Hope you like it. Cheers, Jim G.

Thats a nice looking lid Jim, shame about the strap, do you reckon its a corpes cut or more recent, nice clean liner as well

Hi Dave, I don't think so (at least I hope not). There is no blood rot on the helmet at all, just some normal wear on the decals. It was probably hung from a hook for decades and just stretched out until it finally broke at the first hole. I have an M42 with much better decals, but the price was irresistible, and I just couldn't pass it up. (I guess it makes up for what I paid for the other one!) Cheers, Jim G.

Good - no GREAT - eye Frank, you are almost certainly right. After you posted I looked at it more closely, and the "2" is much more apparent to me in the photo than it was/is looking at it in hand! Glad you like it!. Jim G.

Nice pick up indeed! Good worn decals and paint with a good clean liner. I reckon you are onto something with the strap break, looks to very slightly taper up to the break like its been pulled.

Got to take advantage of the helmets when the price is right!

Congrat's Jim,

I nearly purchased this lid. Another 48 hours and it may have been mine. And yes the price was right. I'll just have to wait for the next one to come to my door steps with the right price.
