Ok, i got this helmet about 2 weeks ago painted black but it must be done long time ago, perhaps for fire brigade?
Yesterday i have some time and decide to clean old black paint and i got this. What do you think gents?

Black helmets were used by firemen in Prague after the war. I know some people bying them for the inside...

What did you use for cleaning the black paint ??

Its called Lavacol, its some white stuff

Thanks, I will look it up, I doubt we have it in Denmark ! But I guess it's a kind of chemical paint remover .

Nice helmet. I did the same to an M35. after I removed the paint a re-enactor had applied - and then the post-war top coat, it revealed a good portion of apple green with remnants of double decals - the left one being red.
