M42 Helmet real or fake?

I like the shell and paint, but I am not keen on the liner.

Looks a standard hkp no decal M42 to me,looks like somebody has been writing all over it in the picture of the rear. Leon.

Nice original M-42 post 1943 with no decal love the RBN marks in liner can't read the maker but judging by vent holes would say HKP (Saxony) Chinese helments interesting. Especially the WW2 ones. timothy

The 42 is good, it looks very familiar right down to the monogram.

Guys, as confirms my earlier suspicions, the liner is a complete fake.

The helmet looks good and I assume your the seller on eBay. Can I ask how you obtained this in china? My girlfriend is in Beijing now and told me she would see if she could find one of the M35's the Chinese used in WWII.

Anything coming out of China need to be very seriously scrutinized. Fakes are and reproductions are extremely prolific. You should have used a safe word for you girl friends return to make sure she is the real deal upon her arrival home.

John, I spotted the helmet on Ebay but wouldn't even consider it because of it's place of origin. While my china doll is a treasure she will be the first to admit that China copies everything. Oh and there is nothing fake about her.

Agreed. The liner is fine, it is one made out of 2 pieces, with a laminated seam in addition to the sewn seam.

Looks like a straight up hkp ND M42 to me.
I don't see any issues with the liner myself, and I have never seen a fake liner with spliced leather.
