Hey folks, picked up a helmet shell at the flea market over the weekend for practically nothing. Wasn't sure if it was a copy or not since I've never seen the manufacturer stamp on the rear rim of a helmet. Can anyone confirm that? Think it was ET64 from what I can tell. The repaint has made it hard to read.

Perhaps EF. Hard to tell with the paint

It appears to have been repainted.

Hi, yes they did put manufacturers stamp on the rear of the helmets later in the war.

I know it's a repaint. I was wanting to confirm the stamp as original or copied. I know a lot of copies are just random letters that don't mean anything. The rear stamp was a later war feature right?

    I don't see a problem with it.

EF is known for having very light stamps on their late war M42 helmets.

Glenn and Warbuff are spot on. Besides a repaint it might also have been sanded or sand blasted first. But you have a nice foundation to build a reenactment or lid.

Looks like EF 64 to me.
